The Kingdom invests 175 million riyals in a state-of-the-art veterinary laboratory.
A contract was signed to build an advanced veterinary laboratory in Riyadh, aiming to diagnose diseases and develop local vaccines based on known strains within the Kingdom. This is part of an initiative to enhance animal production and livestock health security.
This project represents a qualitative shift in the veterinary medicine sector, as it will contribute to:
- Local production of veterinary medicines and vaccines: reducing reliance on imports and providing products tailored to the needs of livestock in the Kingdom.
- Improving the quality of diagnosis: through the use of the latest laboratory technologies for early detection of epidemic diseases.
- Supporting food security: through controlling diseases that may affect meat and dairy production.
- Improving the efficiency of breeders: by providing them with safe and effective therapeutic and preventive tools.
The laboratory will also provide a research environment that allows scientists and researchers to develop innovative pharmaceutical solutions, particularly in the fields of:
- Preventive vaccines for locally prevalent diseases.
- Advanced parasitic and veterinary medicines.
- Nutritional supplements designed to increase livestock productivity.
This integration of veterinary medicine and new research infrastructure enhances the Kingdom's competitiveness in veterinary medicine and places it on the map of leading countries in developing integrated livestock health systems.
